If you visit the state of Georgia in the United States you will experience a state full of the culture and history of the country. If you are someone looking for the southern experience then this is the state to visit. If you know Martin Luther King and if you have loved the story of Gone with the Wind, these are all associated with this state. Variety characterisizes the state of Georgia. You can visit a lot of places in Georgia, like state parks, beaches, mountain trails, charming streets, and others. If you happen to visit Georgia, then you should not miss these great tourist sites.
The town of Blue Ridge is the center of art in this state. It has fondly been called the ‘Switzerland of the South’ because of the many arts and crafts galleries and live music performance you can enjoy. Around this small town is a wooden area where you can go trail hiking with your friends and you can also pas by the Ocoee River where you can enjoy a round of kayaking.
Then there is a town on Pine Mountain which is adjacent to the Calloway Gardens resort where you can find beautiful gardens, lakes and golf courses. In the town proper, you can find many antique shops, traditional restaurants where you can have a taste of southern cuisine, and other local shops. In Calloway Gardens you can find many kinds of accommodations or nearby apartments in LaGrange, GA, which is the city next to this town.
You can also go to the sandy beaches and sand dunes of Tybee island, which is a few hours’ drive from Savannah. Water and land activities are plenty in this 22 square mile island. Or if you don’t want to do these activities you can simply enjoy the beach and watch the beautiful view from the island.
You can also have an adventure hiking trail through the Cohutta Mountains of Georgia, called the Panther Creek Trail. There are majestic waterfalls to view along the trail which are breathtaking and these falls flow in multiple tiers to a pool of water down below which is crystal clear. This place is one of great peace and quiet and is a great place to do some quiet meditation while listening to the flow of water from the falls. You can spend the night camping near the falls with your friends with the many campsites on both sides of the falls.
Providence Canyon is Georgia’s own version of the Grand Canyon which is located within the Providence National Park. It is a beautiful sight of rock formations in orange, red, purple and orange colors and is a very striking sight especially if you visit during the summer months. If you want to take the canyon hands on, you can do so with hiking and rock-climbing activities in the place.
